Bass, bass, bass – what more could anybody want? – Slaprates 300 BC
Sami has been playing bass in Leverage since 2009. He started playing bass in the early 90’s and his influences were then and still are to this day the masters Steve Harris, Cliff Burton, Joey DeMaio, Billy Sheehan, John Myung and Victor Wooten.
Sami plays what the song needs which is most likely just that sweet solid foundation where the bass locks up with the drums but he isn’t shy when asked to play a solo (like in Heaven’s Not a Place for Us and the last song of the NEW album hush this is a secret shh shhhh). Sami’s tone is a mix of heavenly distortion and mouth-watering clean lowend which is a perfect metal tone combination with maestro Heikkinen’s guitars.
Although metal music is considered dark and angry, Sami loves it so much he just smiles when he plays it live. Or maybe he’s just not bright enough to be all dark and gloomy…
