Marko Niskala

Marko Niskala is a character behind the keys. He was born in Sweden, but during his first years of life he moved with his family to Finland, where he has spent his life to this day.
His musical journey in playing keyboards started in the 80's when he took a few years of evening lessons at a community college. Musical path began to take shape more clearly in the early 90’s as a keyboardist in a progressive metal band called Mind Product. From there the path has taken him through various projects and lineups towards Leverage, where he has been waving his fingers since the formation of the band.
Progressive music has been a big interest for him from a very early age, but 80’s rock music plays a major role for him from the perspective of soundscapes and inspiration as well. Since the early days of playing, frequent listening and digging included e.g. Bonjovi, Def Leppard, Ozzy, Genesis, Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, early DT material...
